Thomas Bavaria 8.25" Hand-Painted Porcelain Plate Antique 1920s-30s, Purple Violets A lovely decorative (cabinet) plate made by Porzellanfabrik Thomas, with a mark for Bavaria (no Germany). The coupe plate has a hand-painted design of purple violets, with a purple scroll band around the inner part of the plate. The purple violets are offset with large green leaves and a hint of yellow highlights in their centers, and the purple band is enlivened with dark brown scroll work. There is a band of gold trim around the rim. The plate measures 8.25 inches wide across the middle. It is in very good to excellent condition. There are no scratches, and no chips or cracks or crazing. The gold trim is intact, with no wear. The plate has a winged shield mark for "Thomas / Bavaria." This green Thomas / Bavaria mark was used 1908 to 1939.
